Deadly Church Attack in Michigan
GRAND BLANC, Mich. — A gunman drove his truck into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sunday morning,
opening fire on worshippers before setting the building ablaze.
Police said “he ran the vehicle through the front door, exited and started firing shots.”
Casualties and Damage
Four people were killed and eight injured. One victim died at the scene, another at the hospital, and two more from the fire.
The gunman, identified as 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford, was killed in a shootout with police.
Officials called the chapel a “total loss” after the five-alarm blaze.
Investigation and Security Concerns
The FBI is leading the probe, calling it “an act of targeted violence.”
Investigators are searching for a motive and possible threats tied to the church.
Leaders Respond
President Trump called it “yet another targeted attack on Christians.”
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said, “Violence anywhere, especially in a place of worship, is unacceptable.”
