Journalist and TV host Débora Estrella, 43, died in a light aircraft crash near the Pesquería River in García, Nuevo León, on September 20, 2025.
Authorities confirmed pilot Bryan Leonardo Ballesteros Argueta also perished.
Hours earlier, Estrella had shared a photo of the plane on Instagram.
Ex-Husband’s Painful Discovery
Her ex-husband, journalist José Luis García, unknowingly reported the accident with the post, “Light aircraft crashes.”
After social media users linked Estrella to the tragedy, he deleted the message and has stayed silent since.
Career and Passion
Estrella was best known as host of Telediario Matutino in Monterrey since 2018 and had also worked with Milenio TV and Channel 6.
Passionate about aviation, she often expressed admiration for those in the field.
Personal Life
She and García were together over 15 years, divorcing in 2020.
Reflecting later, García said, “I hold on to the best of those 15 years we spent together.”
