Breaking: Over 60 Kids Buried Under
Tragic Collapse
In Sidoarjo, East Java, Indonesia, a boarding school building collapsed on Monday, September 29, leaving students and staff trapped.
Three pupils have died, and about 101 were hospitalized.
“Oh my God … my son is still buried,” a mother cried.
Chaos and Panic
Students had gathered for prayer when the structure gave way.
Thirteen-year-old Muhammad Rijalul Qoib said debris fell on him, but he escaped.
Another student, Sofa, recalled seeing “lots of injuries” and “broken bones.”
Rescue Efforts
Rescuers reported hearing “crying and shouting” from beneath the rubble but cautioned the unstable building requires careful operations. Sixty-five children were listed as missing, mostly boys aged 12–17.
Cause and Concerns
Officials suspect the old foundation couldn’t support unpermitted additional floors. Authorities continue to search for survivors while investigating the collapse.
Netizens expressed grief, with one saying, “I hope by some miracle these children survive, heartbreaking for all the families concerned.”
