Oklahoma Woman Loses All Limbs After Pitbull Attack
A woman in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, has lost all four limbs after being attacked by two pitbulls while riding her bicycle.
On September 9, Janelle Scott and her boyfriend were heading to a friend’s trailer when the friend’s dogs escaped and attacked. Her boyfriend, initially too far away to help, managed to kill one of the dogs after it turned on him.
By the time police arrived, Scott had suffered catastrophic injuries. She was airlifted to Tulsa St. Frances Hospital, where surgeons amputated her right arm and leg, then later her left arm and leg. “That was hard for her because she was left-handed, so she thought she’s gonna get to keep her left arm,” her mother, Cheryl Scott, said.
Cheryl admitted she cries privately: “I have to encourage her, and then I have to take a break outside and do my crying.” She has asked for prayers, writing on GoFundMe, “I’m a true believer in how powerful prayers are.”
Authorities say the dogs’ owner was in jail at the time of the attack.
