I Was Terrified By What My Dog
Why You Should Never Ignore Strange Discoveries — Especially With Pets Around
One calm morning, my dog Bruno was racing around the garden when I spotted tiny orange spheres near an old stump.
At first, I thought they were toys — until I saw dozens more scattered around.
Before I could react, Bruno grabbed one.
“Drop it, Bruno!” I yelled.
Thankfully, he did.
Fearing it was poisonous, I called our vet and sent photos.
“They’re called myxomycetes — or wolf’s milk slime mold,” the vet explained.
Harmless but odd, these bright orange blobs grow on decaying wood after rain.
Relieved, I cleared them away and learned a valuable lesson:
always check before assuming the worst.
If You Find Something Strange
Don’t panic, don’t touch it bare-handed, take photos, and ask an expert.
Curiosity is good — but curiosity with caution keeps both you and your pets safe.
