Texas Man Sentenced After Assaulting Border Patrol Agent

Recent federal actions highlight ongoing efforts to protect U.S.

borders and enforce immigration laws. One case in Katy, Texas,

underscored those risks when 26-year-old Kevin Dominguez

attacked a Border Patrol agent while trying to flee a checkpoint.

On August 1, 2023, a Border Patrol canine alerted agents to movement in Dominguez’s car trunk.

When ordered to stop, he reversed his vehicle, striking an agent before speeding away.

A helicopter later tracked two people fleeing the car —

one was identified as an undocumented noncitizen from Honduras.

Dominguez was indicted in September 2023, pleaded guilty in January 2024,

and has now been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison.

Authorities said the case shows both the dangers officers face and the government’s

determination to act “swiftly and firmly” when border safety and law are threatened.
