I Was Selling My Paintings in the Park

Life Before Painting

“I wasn’t always a painter. For 30 years, I was an electrician.”

After losing his wife and facing his daughter Emily’s paralysis from a drunk-driving accident, he struggled to cope.

Most savings went to surgeries and home modifications, leaving little for rehab.

Finding Art

“I didn’t pick up a brush because I thought it would save us.

I picked it up because I didn’t know what else to do with my hands.”

Painting in the park became his anchor, capturing memories of country roads,

cornfields, and everyday life.

Strangers often stopped to connect with his work.

A Miracle in the Park

One day, he helped a lost little girl. Her father, Jonathan, later returned, saying,

“For your work… I want your paintings…

I’d pay any artist whose work moved me that much.”

The payment covered Emily’s full rehab.

New Beginnings

Emily is walking again. “Maybe it is [home],” he says,

still painting daily, carrying forward the life and love art gave him.
