Rihanna Mourns Tra.gic Loss Of Another Family
Rihanna’s Father, Ronald Fenty, Dies at 70
Ronald Fenty, father of global pop star Rihanna, has died at the age of 70 after a brief illness in Los Angeles, according to reports by TMZ and Barbados’ Starcom Network. His exact cause of death remains unknown.
Rihanna and her father shared a complicated history, marked by periods of estrangement, legal battles, and eventual reconciliation. “I haven’t heard from my father in over a year. I try though, I reached out to him. I did my part. Now it’s on him,” she told Ryan Seacrest in 2009. She also accused him of embarrassing behavior on her tour and criticized his public comments after her assault by Chris Brown. “He turned his back on me and went to the media,” she said.
In 2019, Rihanna sued Ronald for using their last name in his business, Fenty Entertainment. The suit was eventually dropped in 2021, reportedly after a settlement.
Despite their strained relationship, Rihanna later supported him during difficult times. In 2013, she paid for his rehab after he was caught intoxicated during a trip to California. In 2020, Ronald publicly thanked her for helping him recover from COVID-19: “My daughter Robyn was checking in on me every day… She did so much for me. I appreciate everything she has done.”
