Three sisters found dead at campsite after vanishing with their dad

Tragic Disappearance and Discovery
Three young sisters—Paityn (9), Evelyn (8), and Olivia Decker (5)—vanished during a visit with their father, Travis Decker, in Washington State. What was meant to be a routine three-hour court-approved visitation turned deadly. Days later, their bodies were found near Rock Island Campground, just hours east of Seattle. Authorities believe Travis, 32, suffocated the girls. Police discovered “a plastic bag over [each girl’s] head and zip ties around their wrists,” with “bloody handprints” on the father’s truck nearby. Travis remains at large.

Concerns About the Father
Travis Decker, a military veteran with mental health struggles, had a history of instability. His ex-partner Whitney expressed fears in custody court filings, saying, “I cannot have our girls living in what is essentially a homeless shelter, or worse.” She noted the girls sometimes stayed in tents or the father’s truck, sometimes unsupervised, and mentioned incidents where Olivia was lost and Evelyn returned with unexplained injuries. Whitney told reporters, “I didn’t think he was dangerous… but he loved them.”

Ongoing Manhunt and Law Enforcement Response
Chelan County officials charged Travis with three counts of aggravated murder and kidnapping. Sheriff Mike Morrison urged, “Travis, if you’re listening… Do the right thing. Take accountability for your actions. We’re not going to rest.” The manhunt involves the FBI, U.S. Marshals, and Homeland Security, with drones searching rugged wilderness areas. Authorities warn the public not to approach him but to report any sightings.
