Six Minutes Beyond Life: What I Saw
Teen’s Near-Death Experience
A 15-year-old shared his near-death experience after collapsing from cardiac arrest in 2003. He had felt “just fine all day” before suddenly breaking into a cold sweat and losing the ability to breathe. Paramedics revived him six minutes after his heart stopped. Though rare, such events often spark fascination due to the strange experiences people report during clinical death.
A Light-Filled Realm
The teen described a vivid and peaceful scene that began with overwhelming brightness.
“It began with light. Blinding, white, pervasive. It bathed me, calmed me… Beatific, welcoming, the stuff of spiritual experiences.”
He felt himself float upward through “several sets of gates” and enter a mysterious space that “only made sense while I occupied it.”
A Dark Shift
The peaceful experience turned unsettling. The teen described meeting strange, cold beings.
“At first, because of my Christian upbringing, I believed them to be angels.”
But this quickly changed.
“I felt myself shackled by their powers, like a collared dog.”
He called it an experience of deep suffering:
“I can’t imagine anything worse than what I experienced, subsumed beneath an ineffable grief and torment.”
