Devastating Plane Crash in India Kills Over 100

More than 100 people are confirmed dead after Air India Flight AI171 crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, slamming into a medical college dormitory in Meghani Nagar. The aircraft was en route to London Gatwick with 242 people on board, including 11 children.

“There seems to be no survivors,” said the Ahmedabad police commissioner, as emergency crews continue rescue efforts. A senior police officer confirmed, “The building on which it has crashed is a doctors’ hostel … we have cleared almost 70% to 80% of the area.”

Air India reported the flight included 169 Indian, 53 British, 1 Canadian, and 7 Portuguese nationals. Over 100 bodies, many severely burned, were sent to a local hospital.

The crash triggered a fire and halted all airport flights. The cause remains unknown. Authorities urge travelers to “check with their respective airlines” and remain patient as the investigation continues.
