Shocking Political Attacks in Minnesota
Minnesota is shaken after State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband were fatally shot in what Governor Tim Walz called “what appears to be a politically motivated assassination.”
Multiple Targets and Manhunt
State Senator John Hoffman and his spouse were also attacked but survived surgery. “The Hoffmans are out of surgery at this time and receiving care,” said Walz. The shooter disguised as an officer escaped after a gunfight with police.
Law Enforcement Response
A multi-agency manhunt is underway. Police warn, “If somebody comes to the door… claiming to be a police officer, please call 911 and confirm.” The FBI is “fully engaged on the ground in Minnesota.”
