My New Neighbor Was Shamelessly Flirting with My

The New Neighbor
At 52, I thought I’d seen every type of gold-digger—until Amber moved in next door. She was “young,” my husband Andy noted, but I warned, “She’s trouble.” Recently divorced from a much older man, Amber arrived confident and immediately set her sights on Andy.

Flirtation and Testing
Amber showered Andy with compliments like, “That shirt really brings out your eyes!” and “You must be so strong.” When I confronted her, she giggled, “Andy told me all about you.” I replied firmly, “Yes, he takes excellent care of everything that’s his.” Then Amber faked a plumbing emergency, trying to seduce Andy. “Amber, what the hell is this?” he said, reminding her, “I’m married!” He left, passing the test.

The Trap
I sent Amber a message from Andy’s phone inviting her over when I’d be “at book club.” She arrived dressed to seduce, but instead met my real book club. Susan, a retired cop, said, “We’ve been watching your little show for weeks.” I told Amber, “You picked the wrong man this time. And the wrong woman.”

Victory and Goodbye
The next morning, a For Sale sign appeared. Three weeks later, Amber was gone. When Andy asked, I just smiled and said, “Maybe this just wasn’t her happy place after all.”
