A Comforting Sign During a Difficult Pregnancy
Amanda Foster, a 33-year-old mother from Kentucky, found comfort during a high-risk pregnancy after a surprising ultrasound image appeared to show a large hand cradling her baby’s head. “In one of his pictures, it has the appearance of a hand holding his head,” she wrote in a viral Facebook post. “It brought me to tears thinking about all the support and protection my son has received.”

A Painful Past
Years earlier, Amanda experienced the heartbreaking loss of her first son, Xavier, due to Potter syndrome, a rare condition that affects kidney development. “It’s more commonly seen in boys,” she shared. Despite the pain, Amanda and her husband Kyle went on to have two healthy daughters and a son, Jay, born without the condition.

A New Journey, A New Sign
Now expecting another son, Amanda’s current pregnancy has been closely monitored after doctors found a heart abnormality. At a recent ultrasound, her daughter Bailey noticed something unusual on the screen and asked, “Whose hand is that?” The image seemed to show a protective hand resting on baby Kyler’s head—an image Amanda believes symbolizes hope and healing.

Hope and Support
As of June 20, at 36 weeks pregnant, Amanda reports that Kyler is thriving. “He’s our chunky boy!” she posted. “Today they monitored his practice breathing. His heart rate was strong. I cannot wait to have him in my arms.” Online, others have offered encouragement, interpreting the image in various ways—from divine signs to a mother’s deep faith and strength through loss.
