Ozzy Osbourne: Remembering the Prince of Darkness
Rock icon Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22 at 76, leaving behind a legacy as one of heavy metal’s most unforgettable figures.
Known for wild antics like biting a bat’s head off on stage, he also starred in a hit reality show and helped define the sound of Black Sabbath.
Despite fame, Ozzy battled addiction for decades. “I’ve had success, but I never felt great,” he told Variety in 2021. “From a young age, I used anything to get out of my head.”
His substance use affected his family deeply. “It’s a very selfish disease,” he said. “My kids needed me… but I wasn’t there for them.”
One turning point came after a bizarre LSD trip. “I stood there talking to a horse for an hour, and then it told me to f*** off. That was it for me.”
His family shared he passed “surrounded by family and love.”
