Emma Heming Willis Shares Update on Bruce Willis
Emma Heming Willis Opens Up About Bruce’s Dementia Journey
In an interview with Diane Sawyer, Emma Heming Willis shared the challenges of caring for Bruce Willis after his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.
She first noticed “small changes in Bruce’s presence,” hoping it was hearing loss, but as speech faded, she knew “something deeper was happening.”
The illness changed their relationship.
“It didn’t feel like a marriage anymore,” Emma admitted, explaining how she became his caregiver.
For their daughters’ well-being, she moved Bruce to a nearby care home —
“a sanctuary filled with warmth, laughter, and the steady support of family and friends.”
Although his mind declines, Emma cherishes simple connections:
“I know he knows us,” she said.
Emma shares her story in The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path, offering hope to others: no one facing this journey is alone.
