Jimmy Kimmel’s comeback faces major blow
Kimmel’s Suspension and Return
Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show was suspended after backlash over his remarks on the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and Donald Trump’s response.
ABC said the pause was to avoid “further inflaming a tense situation.”
Disney’s Announcement
On September 22, Disney confirmed his return: “We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy,
and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
Sinclair Pushes Back
But Sinclair Inc., which operates nearly 40 ABC affiliates, refused to air it.
“Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! …
and replacing it with news programming,” the company said.
Three Demands
Sinclair insists Kimmel apologize to the Kirk family, donate to them and Turning Point USA, and engage in “formal discussions” with ABC.
Until then, viewers in many markets won’t see his long-awaited comeback.
