A 400 Pound Black Bear Was Drowning In The Ocean
Bear Rescue Turns Heroic
In Florida, a 400-pound black bear was sedated for relocation—but panic struck when the dart hit. The frightened bear bolted into the ocean.

A Risky Move
As the drug kicked in, the bear began drowning.

Adam Warwick, a Wildlife Commission biologist, made a split-second decision: “It was a spur of the moment decision.

I had a lot of adrenaline pumping when I saw the bear in the water.”

Against All Odds
Despite the danger—one swipe could kill him—Warwick swam out and held the bear’s head above water.

He got only a scratch during the rescue.

Safe at Last
With help from his team and a tractor,

the bear was safely transported to Osceola National Forest.

Thanks to Adam’s bravery, the giant is back in its natural home.
