Atreyu McCann Remembered
After months of bullying, 13-year-old Atreyu McCann, son of actress Clare McCann, died by suicide at home in Sydney. Atreyu, described as “the most intelligent, funniest and talented person I’ve ever known,” had just started high school when the abuse began.
Tributes and Grief
At his funeral, Clare McCann called Atreyu her “best friend” and apologized tearfully: “I’m sorry if I failed you. I’m sorry if I loved you too much, made you too gentle.” Mourners watched videos of his performances as she promised, “I will fight for your justice.”
A Creative Soul
Like his mother, Atreyu pursued acting, appearing in Deadly Women and winning two drama awards. Father Bernie Thomas said Atreyu was kind and spiritual, noting his TikTok said, “God First.”
