Audio from the Charlie Kirk shooting dispatch
Tragedy at Utah Valley University
On September 10, conservative commentator Charlie Kirk,
founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot during a campus rally.
He was 31 and speaking on his “American Comeback” tour.
A Polarizing Figure
Kirk was widely known for campus tours that drew both support and protest.
His organization said his mission was to inspire conservative values among young Americans.
The Shooting
Witnesses said the event was typical until an attendee asked “
a highly controversial and inflammatory question about transgender individuals and mass shootings.”
Moments later, the suspect opened fire. Kirk was pronounced dead despite emergency efforts.
Authorities quickly arrested the shooter, who remains unnamed.
Aftermath and Investigation
Police are probing the suspect’s motives, affiliations, and mental health.
The killing has sparked mourning across political divides and renewed debate on “political violence, gun control, and campus safety.”
