Remembering Beandri Booysen: A Life of Courage and Positivity
Beandri Booysen, a South African teenager, passed away at 19, just days before Christmas.
Born with Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome—a rare genetic condition that ages
the body eight times faster than normal—Beandri defied medical expectations,
living far beyond the early teens doctors predicted.
Despite her illness, Beandri embraced life fully. She attended school,
dreamed of becoming a teacher, and imagined a future with a family.

Weighing just 12 kilograms (26 pounds), her physical challenges were immense, but her spirit remained boundless.
Through TikTok, Beandri shared motivational messages with nearly 300,000 followers.
Her motto, “Be yourself. Love yourself. Believe in yourself,” inspired people worldwide and raised awareness about progeria.
She used her platform not just to educate, but to spread hope and positivity.
Weeks after celebrating her 19th birthday, Beandri experienced a sudden health crisis. Her mother, Bea, announced, “Please pray.

Beandri’s heart stopped.” On December 18, Beandri passed away. Her mother described her as a “vibrant personality” and the “last surviving person in South Africa with progeria,” praising her courage and advocacy.
Though her life was brief, Beandri’s impact was profound. Her bravery, joy, and dedication to helping others leave a lasting legacy.
As her family mourns, her story reminds us to cherish every moment and live with the same fearlessness and love that defined her extraordinary life.
