Explosion at Tennessee Munitions Plant Leaves Multiple Dead, 19 Missing
A massive explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems, a military explosives plant in McEwen, Tennessee,
has killed several people and left 19 missing. The blast occurred around midday on October 10, shaking homes up to 15 miles away.
Emergency Response
Sheriff Chris Davis confirmed the scale of the disaster, saying families of the missing are being notified.
First responders were initially held back due to smaller ongoing detonations, but have since gained partial control.
Eyewitness Accounts
Residents described a “massive boom” followed by black smoke and flames.
Gentry Stover said his home shook violently, fearing it might collapse.
Aerial footage showed destroyed vehicles and scattered debris across the facility’s eight-building site.
Investigation Ongoing
Officials from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency are investigating the cause.
The company has not yet released a statement as access remains restricted for safety reasons.
