Brazilian Tourist’s Final Instagram Post
Tragic Death on Mount Rinjani
Brazilian traveler Juliana Marins, 26, died after slipping and getting stranded alone in a ravine on Indonesia’s Mount Rinjani. Despite being spotted alive by a drone, rescue teams arrived too late. Her family said, “She asked for help. She screamed. And silence was all she received in response.”
Final Social Media Moments
Before the accident, Juliana posted happy hiking selfies with the caption, “never try never fly.” A friend commented, “Goddess of my life. I’m not ready to exist without you around,” to which Juliana replied, “Friend, STOP!!!!! You’ll blink and I’ll be right back.” After her disappearance, the friend’s heartbreaking comment went viral: “I just blinked, friend. Come back to me, come back?”
Neglected and Left Behind
Juliana reportedly showed exhaustion during the hike, but her guide and group left her behind. After falling over 300 meters, she survived the fall and was filmed alive by a drone. However, rescue was delayed by bad weather. Her sister called some rescue videos “lies” and said, “All the videos that were made are lies, including the one of the rescue team reaching her.”
Digital Mourning and Outrage
Juliana’s Instagram has become a memorial, filled with grief and demands for accountability. Comments range from, “In 26 years, you lived a much more complete life than most people will live in 100,” to the viral plea, “I just blinked, friend. Come back?” Her father criticized the slow consulate response, saying, “She is a 26-year-old girl… no one aside from family and friends cares.”
