A 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit southern China, northern Thailand,
and Myanmar early Monday, creating a regional emergency.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake’s epicenter was in a mountainous area on the China-Myanmar border,
striking at 3:42 a.m. at a depth of about 10 kilometers.
