‘Bribery Charges’: Abbott Tees Off On Dems
Democrats Flee Texas to Block Vote
Over 50 Texas House Democrats flew to Chicago to block a redistricting vote by denying a quorum. The GOP plan could add five Republican seats, which Democrats call a “racist mid-decade redistricting scheme.”
Abbott Threatens Legal Action
Governor Greg Abbott condemned the move: “Real Texans don’t flee from a battle.” He warned that if Democrats don’t return by Monday at 3 p.m., they could face removal or criminal charges.

Possible Felony Charges
Abbott claimed accepting help to pay fines could “violate bribery laws.” He said, “I think they face a possibility of facing bribery charges, which is a second-degree felony in Texas.”
Democrats Respond
The Texas House Democratic Caucus answered Abbott’s threats with a simple message: “Come and take it.” Meanwhile, Attorney General Ken Paxton said the lawmakers “should be found and arrested no matter where they go.”
