Cracker Barrel Responds To ‘Woke’
Cracker Barrel Faces Backlash Over Rebrand
Cracker Barrel is under fire after unveiling its first logo change in 48 years, part of a $700 million rebranding effort. Critics labeled the move “woke” and “soulless.”
Company Defends Values
“Our values haven’t changed,” the restaurant told Newsweek. “The heart and soul of Cracker Barrel haven’t changed.” The company emphasized that “Uncle Herschel remains front and center” as part of its identity.
Critics and Online Reactions
Rep. Byron Donalds wrote on X: “No one asked for this woke rebrand. It’s time to Make Cracker Barrel Great Again.” Others mocked the outrage, while conservative influencer Owen Shroyer commented, “This is your logo. It’s literally a cracker and a barrel.”
Board Member Controversy
Backlash also targeted board member Gilbert Davila, who owns a DEI consulting firm. Activist Robby Starbuck claimed his background explains the changes, saying it pushes “DEI and DEI advertising.”
