Doctor Warns: Sleeping With A Fan
Heatwave Hits UK
Britons are enjoying an early taste of summer, but with only 5% of homes having air conditioning, many rely on fans to stay cool.
Expert Warning
Dr. Naheed Ali told LADbible that sleeping with a fan can “cause hidden stress on the body.”
While it cools the skin by speeding up sweat evaporation, the airflow can dry out the throat and sinuses, leaving you dehydrated by morning.
Health Risks
“A dry airway produces thicker mucus, which can trap allergens,” Dr. Ali explained. This may lead to coughing, a scratchy voice, or clogged sinuses.
Extra Caution for Allergy Sufferers
Fans also “stir up dust from bedding and flooring,” he said, warning that particles can worsen asthma and allergies, causing chest tightness or sneezing.
