Donald Trump praises decision to take Jimmy Kimmel
Kimmel Pulled Off Air
ABC confirmed Wednesday that Jimmy Kimmel Live!
will be preempted “for the foreseeable future” following the host’s remarks about the killing of Charlie Kirk.
Nexstar Media Group added: “Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel… and will replace the show with other programming.”
Controversial Remarks
On Monday, Kimmel criticized the reaction to Kirk’s death, mocking lowered flags and Donald Trump’s tribute:
“This is not how an adult grieves… This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.”
The comments drew swift backlash.
Political Fallout
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr warned ABC affiliates could face “fines or license revocations” if they continued airing the show.
Meanwhile, Trump, on a UK state visit, praised the decision, writing on Truth Social: “Great News for America:
The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED.”
Kimmel’s Response
According to reports, Kimmel had planned to clarify his remarks but “was not intending to apologize.”
