Farewell to a Legend: Remembering a Star
Farewell to Rob Burrow
Rugby star Rob Burrow, who died at 41 after battling motor neurone disease (MND), was honored by family, friends, and fans in Leeds.
His passing came just before work began on a new MND research center bearing his name, securing his legacy beyond the game.
Civic Tribute
A reception at Leeds Civic Hall, led by the Lord Mayor Abigail Marshall Katung,
brought together about 180 guests, including Burrow’s family, teammates, and MND Association leaders.
Final Journey
Hundreds lined the streets in West Yorkshire, many in Leeds Rhinos shirts,
as the cortege passed.
His wife Lindsey, their three children, and close family joined the procession,
with floral tributes reading “Dad,” “Bro,” and “Son.”
Lasting Words
At Featherstone Lions’ ground, where his career began, mourners signed a condolence book.
In his last message, Burrow reminded others:
“Never waste a moment” and always “dare to dream.”
