Federal Magistrate Approves Elon Musk’s

A federal magistrate judge has approved Elon Musk’s $150 million defamation lawsuit against

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, turning a viral online feud into a major legal fight.

Musk claims Walz made “provably false and malicious” accusations,

including that he was “actively promoting white supremacist propaganda” and “engineering disinformation campaigns.”

In a deleted tweet, Walz wrote that Musk was trying “to suppress truth,

empower the far-right, and dismantle our democratic institutions—one tweet at a time.”

Judge Brenda Kinsey said the case should move forward because “there is a line…that separates protected opinion from defamatory speech.”

Musk argues the statements caused “immeasurable reputational damage,” while Walz’s team calls the lawsuit “a desperate PR stunt designed to silence criticism.”

Musk commented, “Free speech is for opinions, not for lies,” and joked,

“I didn’t spend $44 billion on X just to be defamed by the governor of Minnesota.”
