U.S. Troops Face Missed Paychecks as Shutdown Deepens

For the first time in U.S. history, active-duty service members may miss a paycheck as the government shutdown enters its second week.

About 1.3 million troops have continued working since October 1,

but the Pentagon warned that without swift congressional action, next week’s paychecks won’t be issued.

Republicans blame Senate Democrats for blocking a “clean” stopgap funding bill, while Democrats accuse the GOP of causing the shutdown.

“Today marks the first day that federal workers across America will receive only a partial paycheck thanks to Democrats’ obstruction,”

said House Speaker Mike Johnson. Senate Minority Whip John Thune called the possible lapse in military pay “unacceptable.”

President Donald Trump is reportedly exploring “every legal option available” to ensure troops are paid.

Meanwhile, military charities are overwhelmed as families seek help.

“We are prepared for $50 million but will make adjustments as needed,” said Sean Ryan of Army Emergency Relief.
