Former Biden State Dept. Staffer Pleads Guilty

State Department Embezzlement
Levita Almuete Ferrer, 64, a former senior budget analyst, pleaded guilty to embezzling $657,347.50 from the State Department between March 2022 and April 2024. She “wrote 60 checks to herself and three to an individual with whom she had a personal relationship,” prosecutors said.

Concealment Tactics
Ferrer used QuickBooks to disguise the theft, entering her name as the payee before printing checks, then changing it to a legitimate vendor. She admitted guilt Wednesday and faces up to 10 years in prison. She has agreed to repay the stolen amount.

DSS Agent Arrested in Brussels
Separately, a State Department bodyguard for Secretary Rubio was arrested in Brussels after “behaving erratically” at a hotel and fighting police. The agent was later released.

Workload Concerns
A source said, “Shift supervisors [on Rubio’s detail] have an incomprehensible workload… six to seven days a week,” citing strain as a factor in the incident.
