Former Democratic Senator Joe Manchin stunned Fox News viewers by
claiming that “President Trump is the person who can basically bring us together”
following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Sharp Divides After Kirk’s Death
Kirk’s murder at age 31 deepened political tensions.
Republicans blamed Democrats for fostering anti-Trump hate,
while Democrats argued Trump has fueled more right-wing violence.
Manchin rejected the latter view.
A Call for Unity
“I’m praying that he’s able to say ‘listen, enough’s enough…
We’ve gotta live in this world together,’” Manchin said, urging Trump to lead with unity.
Manchin’s Shift
Having retired from the Senate after 14 years, Manchin has embraced bipartisanship.
“I believe he can do that… calm down all this rhetoric,” he added,
calling Trump the only figure capable of healing deep national divides.
