From insecure teen to royal TV star — she nearly di.ed after…

Early Life and Identity Struggles
Before fame and royal titles, Meghan Markle was a girl unsure of where she belonged. Born to a Black mother and white father in Los Angeles, she often felt like an outsider. “My dad is Caucasian and my mom is African American. I’m half Black and half white,” she once said. Growing up as a “latchkey kid,” Meghan came home to an empty house while her parents worked, often eating microwave dinners and watching TV. Public stares were common, especially since people doubted her mother was really her mom. Meghan recalled, “She’s like, ‘It’s my child.’ ‘No, you must be the nanny. Where’s her mom?’”

Adolescence and Early Ambitions
Meghan struggled with fitting in as a biracial teen, writing in a blog post, “I wasn’t black enough for the black roles and I wasn’t white enough for the white ones.” Despite insecurities, she was a “big nerd” and used her smarts to challenge a sexist commercial at age 11. Financial struggles marked her childhood, but small luxuries like a salad bar felt special. When her father won the lottery, it helped her get better education and training. Meghan also started working various jobs by age 13 and discovered a passion for acting on the set where her father worked.

Career and Self-Discovery
By her twenties, Meghan felt pressure to appear perfect but said, “It was a constant battle with myself.” At 33, she found peace: “I am 33 years old today. And I am happy… to figure out how to be kind to yourself… it takes time.” Her acting breakthrough came with Suits, leading to her meeting Prince Harry in 2016 and marrying him two years later.
