A Shocking Discovery
After a grueling day in the summer heat, Slavik took a shortcut and heard a faint sobbing. Investigating, he found a baby inside a locked, parked car. The child was barely conscious, “with dangerously heated cheeks, clearly split lips, and hazy, half-closed eyes.”
A Desperate Rescue
Slavik tried the doors—locked. As panic rose, he grabbed a rock and smashed the window. “Without any thought or hesitation,” he pulled the infant out and sprinted two blocks to a clinic. A doctor later told him, “Five more minutes, and we wouldn’t have been able to save him.”
