Heroic Coast Guard Who Saved 200 Children

Texas Floods Turn Deadly
At least 91 people have died and others remain missing after severe flooding struck Texas. The Guadalupe River rapidly overflowed, causing widespread destruction.

Camp Mystic Hit Hard
Camp Mystic, a girls’ Christian summer camp in Kerr County, was one of the worst-hit areas. The camp said, “Our hearts are broken alongside our families… We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support.”

Heroic Coast Guard Rescue
Coast Guard member Scott Ruskan, 26, helped rescue over 200 people. “I discovered I was the only person there as far as first responders go,” he told Good Morning America. “All scared, terrified, cold… I just kind of needed to triage them.”

Bravery on All Sides
Using two landing zones, helicopters evacuated many. Ruskan credited his training and the kids: “The real heroes, I think, were the kids on the ground… they were staying strong. That helped inspire me.”
