I Left for a Week — Came Home to Find My Kids
After a week away, I came home to find my boys “sleeping on the cold hallway floor, dirty and exhausted,” while the house was a mess. I found Mark, my husband, in their room, “lounging with headphones on” playing video games, having turned their bedroom into a gamer’s den. When I confronted him, he said they thought it was an “adventure.”
I decided to treat him like a child—unplugging his game, feeding him pancakes on cartoon plates, and setting a chore chart with gold stars and screen time limits. After a week of my “parenting experiment,” I called his mother, who “stormed in, furious.” Mark finally realized how far he’d fallen, apologized, and promised to do better. The timeout corner, though, “is still ready and waiting.”
