ICE Arrests Illinois Man Accused in Grisly Murder of Missing Woman
Chicago, IL – A 52-year-old Mexican national, Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, is in federal custody over the alleged murder and dismemberment of Megan Bos, 37, of Illinois.
Bos went missing in March, with her last known contact in February. Authorities say her remains were found in April on Mendoza-Gonzalez’s Waukegan property, inside a bleach-filled storage container. DHS officials reported she was decapitated and kept there for nearly two months.
Initially arrested in April on charges including concealing and abusing a corpse, Mendoza-Gonzalez was released after his first court appearance—sparking criticism. “The nature of the crime… and the fact that the suspect is not a U.S. citizen raise serious concerns about public safety,” said Antioch Mayor Scott Gartner.
ICE agents re-arrested him Saturday at a Chicago market. Federal officials say they are working with local law enforcement to ensure justice for Bos and her family.
