the death of Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse and U.S.<\/p>\n
citizen, who was shot by federal agents during an immigration<\/p>\n
enforcement operation in Minneapolis on January 24, 2026.<\/p>\n
Pretti is the second Minneapolis resident killed by federal agents<\/p>\n
this month, following the death of Renee Good on January 7,<\/p>\n
which has intensified scrutiny of federal enforcement.<\/p>\n
Federal officials initially said Pretti \u201cproduced a firearm and<\/p>\n
resisted officers\u2019 attempts to gain control of it,\u201d prompting defensive shots.<\/p>\n
Videos captured by bystanders and officers appear to show Pretti holding<\/p>\n
a cellphone and recording agents before a struggle, with no firearm<\/p>\n
clearly visible until an object consistent with a handgun was pulled<\/p>\n
from his waist during the altercation.<\/p>\n
Audio from the scene includes an officer asking,<\/p>\n
\u201cWhere\u2019s the gun?\u201d after Pretti had been shot.<\/p>\n
Pretti\u2019s family called the government\u2019s account \u201cfalse\u201d and said,<\/p>\n
