I froze in the doorway, convinced it was alive.<\/p>\n
When I finally forced myself to step closer, my brain kept insisting it had to be a snake, or some kind of dead animal lodged in the tub.<\/p>\n
The way it drooped out of the overflow drain made it look disturbingly organic, like it had slowly emerged while the house sat silent.<\/p>\n
I hovered there for ages, torn between grabbing a broom and running back out the door.<\/p>\n
Only after comparing photos online, reading wild theories about parasites, fungi, and sewer creatures, did the truth surface.<\/p>\n
It wasn\u2019t an invader at all, just years of my own life compacted into something monstrous: hair, soap scum, body oils, mold, and grime welded together inside the pipe until it finally slipped free.<\/p>\n
The terror drained out of me, replaced by a strange mix of disgust and relief. Nothing had broken in. Nothing was hunting.<\/p>\n
