Judge Who Hid Illegal from ICE Gets Worst News
Judge Denied Judicial Immunity
Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan’s request to dismiss charges over “judicial immunity” was rejected. U.S.
District Judge Lynn Adelman wrote, “I cannot say as a matter of law that the defendant’s alleged conduct falls within even this more limited version of immunity.”
Allegations Against Dugan
Dugan was indicted in April for allegedly helping defendant Eduardo Flores-Ruiz avoid ICE agents at the courthouse.
Prosecutors claim she told agents they needed a judicial warrant, redirected them, and let Flores-Ruiz exit through a rear door.
Defense Argument Rejected
Her lawyers argued she acted in her judicial capacity and cited separation of powers.
Adelman responded, “There is no basis for granting immunity simply because some of the allegations…
could be considered ‘part of a judge’s job.’”
What’s Next
The case continues, with a hearing set for Sept. 3.
If convicted, Dugan could face fines or prison.
