Kimmel Could Face Federal Probe Over Charlie Kirk
Kimmel Under FCC Scrutiny
Former late-night host Jimmy Kimmel may face a federal review after claiming Charlie Kirk’s accused killer was a MAGA supporter.
Prosecutors say 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, charged in Kirk’s death, held leftist—not MAGA—views.
FCC Response
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr told conservative host Benny Johnson,
“When you look at the conduct that has taken place by Jimmy Kimmel, it appears to be some of the sickest conduct possible.”
He suggested remedies could include suspension, warning ABC and Disney that their broadcast license might be at risk.
Network Backlash
Kimmel refused to apologize, reportedly telling executives he would not “kowtow” to political pressure.
ABC affiliates, advertisers, and groups like Sinclair and Nexstar signaled concerns, raising the stakes for Disney.
Larger Media Fight
Carr linked the controversy to broader battles with mainstream outlets:
“We can do this the easy way or the hard way…
They have a license granted by us at the FCC.”
