MAGA mom taken by ICE – husband refuses to stop flying Trump flag
ICE Detains Iranian Immigrant Despite Family’s Support for Trump
In Diamond Bar, California, Arpineh Masihi, an Iranian immigrant and longtime U.S. resident, was detained by ICE on June 30. Her husband, Arthu Sahakyan, says ICE came to their home, “where a massive ‘Keep America Great’ Trump flag hangs proudly out front,” and took her away.
A MAGA Family Facing Hardship
The family are vocal Trump supporters. “We supported Trump in the last election,” Sahakyan said. “We gave our kids MAGA hats. We wave the flag.” Despite this, Masihi was caught in a sweep targeting Iranian nationals after recent U.S.-Iran tensions.
Mixed Feelings About the Crackdown
Although he misses his wife, Sahakyan supports the immigration actions. “I’m very for the U.S. vetting Iranian nationals because of the sleeper cells,” he said. “I think it will resolve a lot of issues… even though I miss her dearly.”
Standing Firm Despite Pressure
Masihi is being moved to another detention center and worries about her future. Meanwhile, Sahakyan refuses to remove the Trump flag. “I’m still supporting Trump,” he said. “Even though my friends say, ‘Take the flag down, you’re going through a lot,’ I’m like, ‘No, the flag stands.’”
