Missing mom and baby found in SUV submerged in water
Tragic Disappearance
On July 15, Whisper Owen, 36, and her 8-month-old daughter, Sandra McCarty, vanished after a doctor’s appointment in Fresno, California. They were last seen in Atwater, where Owen was spotted changing her daughter’s diaper in a parking lot.
The Final Hours
Owen had visited family earlier that day and was headed home to Sacramento County. Around 8 p.m., her SUV was recorded by a license plate reader in Atwater. That was the last known sighting.
A Mother’s Fear
Owen’s mother, Vickie Torres, said, “It just makes it really hard for me as her mother to shut my brain off… And that beautiful little baby. God, I hope, whatever happened, she’s with her mama.”
Heartbreaking Discovery
Weeks later, divers found Owen’s SUV submerged in a canal. Both mother and daughter were inside. “She was doing everything she could as a mother to try to save her daughter Sandra,” said Adventures With Purpose.
