Missing Texas Couple Found in New Mexico
1. Sudden Disappearance
Charles “Gary” Lightfoot, 82, and Linda Eppers Lightfoot, 81,
vanished after leaving Panhandle on November 27 for a routine drive home to Lubbock.
Their absence prompted a Silver Alert and immediate concern across Texas.
2. Difficult Search
Investigators traced their silver Toyota Camry through license plate data,
noting sightings near Groom, Texas, and later Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
With no cell phones or GPS, officials struggled to locate them,
a challenge that “heightened urgency as the hours stretched on.”
3. Discovery and Aftermath
The couple was eventually found in Quay County, New Mexico.
While “no foul play was suspected,” officials said a medical review would clarify their final hours.
4. Remembering the Lightfoots
Communities mourn the loss of a devoted couple.
Gary Lightfoot, known for his decade as “Police Chief of Littlefield from 1993 to 2003,”
is remembered alongside Linda for their service and deep mutual devotion.
