A Rare Blessing
When 23-year-old Savannah Combs learned she was expecting twins, she was thrilled.
But soon, doctors told her both babies had Down syndrome—an extremely rare occurrence,
about one in two million for identical twins.
Defying the Odds
Despite advice to terminate the pregnancy, Savannah refused.
“Every appointment they were alive was a blessing to me,” she said.
Her daughters, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, were born prematurely on May 12, 2021,
spending weeks in the NICU before coming home.
Raising Her Little Gems
“It’s very rare what they have, but they’ve been my little gems,” Savannah said.
“They have feelings. They have a beating heart… They’re going to get there.”
Standing Strong Against Criticism
When online critics mocked her family, Savannah responded gracefully:
“Good thing they weren’t born to you and were born to me. God knew what he was doing.”
