Mystery Mess Solved in Texas Home
Kelli Tarin, a mom of three from west Texas, was alarmed to find piles of brown, coffee ground-like particles in her daughter’s room. “I had never seen anything like it,” she said after contacting pest control and her landlord, all of whom were stumped.
She turned to a Facebook group for help, receiving wild guesses—from rats to bats and termites. Despite treatments, the strange, seed-like piles kept appearing. Concerned for her daughter’s safety, Kelli even stopped her from sleeping in the room.
The mystery unraveled when someone asked about a stuffed lavender bear her daughter had recently opened. Inside were tiny beads—identical to the “pests.”
“It was the beads from the bear!” Kelli recalled, laughing for half an hour in relief. What began as a stressful search ended in a harmless discovery—proof that sometimes, the answer is hiding in plain sight.
