My Husband Snuck Out ‘For 30 Minutes’
A Father’s Day Wake-Up Call
Father’s Day was meant to be special. Jake and Tommy, ages six and four, poured their hearts into cards and a surprise breakfast for their dad, Brad. “Happy Father’s Day!” they shouted, only to be met with a shrug and distracted phone-scrolling. Brad soon left, promising to return in 30 minutes. He was gone for five hours.
Later that night, Brad came home with friends, shouting, “Babe! What’s for dinner?” That’s when I took over: “Let’s celebrate real fatherhood.” His friends ended up doing chores.
The next day, Brad apologized. Maybe guilt is a teacher. Or maybe, change starts here.
