AOC Responds to Charlie Kirk’s Death
Following the fatal shooting of conservative leader Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez blamed gun violence and political inaction.
“Every single day people are dying due to gun violence… there are people in this building that continue to vote against doing anything,” she said outside the Capitol.
The Shooting
Kirk was shot during a campus Q&A.
Just seconds before, he responded to a question about transgender shooters:
“Too many.” A gunshot followed immediately after.
Campus and Law Enforcement
UVU confirmed shots were fired near the venue.
One suspect was briefly detained, but later released.
“Our campus police has a suspect in custody,” said UVU’s Ellen Treanor.
However, as of now, the shooter remains unidentified.
