Outback Steakhouse Bloomin’ Onion

This recipe shows you how to make Outback’s famous “Bloomin’ Onion” at home.

A large sweet onion is sliced to create petals — the recipe says to make “16 to 20 evenly spaced cuts”

then coated in seasoned flour, dipped in an egg-milk mixture, and breaded again.

After coating, the onion is deep-fried at 375°F until “golden brown and crisp.”

The dipping sauce mixes mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne for a creamy, slightly spicy flavor.

To make it: peel and slice the onion without cutting through the root, open the petals,

dredge it in flour, dip in the wet batter, coat again, and fry for 5–7 minutes.

Mix the sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Serve the onion hot with the sauce in the center.

Pro tips include using a sharp knife and double-dipping for extra crunch.
